Colonial Theatre

The Colonial Theatre was open by 1911. It was located in a narrow two story brick commercial building constructed sometime after 1901. The KHRI entry calls it the Thomas Hays building.

The building was a typical structure for the era, and had two bay windows on the second story. The theatre operated through at least 1926. It does not appear in the 1927 Yearbook.

A photo from 1980 shows the building derelict, still with its ticket booth. Some time later it was demolished, along with a charming little Victorian storefront to the west, to create a drive through and parking lot for a bank.

The KHRI entry, which has next to no information, but does include a picture, is here: https://khri.kansasgis.org/index.cfm?in=013-2560-00047
