The Aeon Cinema Kumiyama is the first ever Aeon theater to open in Japan and the first Aeon theater to open as a standalone Aeon theater without any ownership from Warner Mycal Cinemas, opening on June 29, 1999 as Kyoto’s first multiplex movie theater featuring eight screens and a capacity of 1,844 seats and 16 wheelchairs (with two in each auditorium).

It was the only movie theater in the Kinki region that was operated by Aeon, but ever since July 1, 2013 when all the Warners were wiped out, it has been operated by Aeon Entertainment.

Screen 1 is the largest with 510 seats, while Screen 2 has 257 seats with 3D installations as well as High Frame Rate Support, Screen 3 has 162 seats, Screen 4 has 284 seats, and Screen 5 has 197 seats. Screens 6, 7, and 8 all have 172 seats, with 7 and 8 having 3D installations.
