Kyoto Minami Hall (II)

At approximately 0.047 miles northeast from the longtime older Kyoto Minami Hall(it has its own page on Cinema Treasures) which closed on March 31, 2018 following the management giving up from earthquake-proofing construction. The management attempted to relocate which they did. The building across National Route 1 is a former bank building owned by Iwamoto Metals Company Limited. Renovation work of that building to use as a movie theatre began in January 2019 and ended in May 2019.

The Kyoto Minami Hall reopened in its newer location as a 210-seat triplex on August 23, 2019, screening a marathon of Steven Spielberg features including “Close Encounters of the Third Kind”, “Jaws”, and “ET”.

However, exactly years right after the Coronavirus Pandemic took all the screens away for the brief time, the Kyoto Minami Hall closed down for good on September 30, 2023 due to the continuing difficult business conditions and the lack of prospects for profits.
