The new-build Leach Theatre launched in North La Follette near the Jollico Highway. It opened on May 3, 1951 with a Cycloramic “the magic theatre screen of the future” and Barbara Stanwyck in “The Furies” for Mr. and Mrs. Nolan Leach. The auditorium held an optimistic 800 potential patrons. Ahead of its time, the theatre had a connected restaurant for those who wanted to dine and watch a film. Apparently, they didn’t. On May 24, 1953, they even tried 3D presentations with “A Day in the Country”. It ended August 8, 1953 with “Phantom on the Range” and Karma’s Ghost Party on the stage.

Joe Martin took on the venue briefly as the Fox Theatre on May 28, 1954 with “Hell Gate” and “Half Breed”. That ended on October 5, 1955 with “Private Snuffy Smith.” It became a house of worship which showed religious films. The building’s last film as the Fox Theatre was March 10, 1956 with “Martin Luther”. The building had a commercial run and was demolished.
