The Port Drive-In was opened on July 4, 1952 with Alan Ladd in “Red Mountain”. Originally had one screen. It now has two screens. Speakers are no longer there. You must bring your own radio or rent one from the theatre. It has AM and FM sound. Kids come early to play ball or frisby. Most of the movies are family movies.
Open April to October. During May through August it is open seven days a week. April, May, Sept. and October they are only open on weekends. Price $7 for adults and $1 for children (under 5’s free).
In June 2008, it was taken over by new owners and was renamed Harvest Moon Drive-In. It was closed at the end of the 2011 season. It reopened for the 2022 season, but it was announced that it would close at the end of July 2022. Plans were announced in July 2023 that it would reopen in 2024.

are you going to be open this year? since your board got knocked down? We saw it got taken away but I cant find any sites that have any info on this
Unless someone else has taken over operation of this drive-in, status should be changed to “Closed”.
This Drive-In has been closed since Bob and Darlene retired prior to the 2012 season. There has been a new marquee erected (but not quite finished) with the name GEM Drive-In and a website at www.gemdrivein.com, but all the site says is “The Future Home of the Gem Drive-In” To my knowledge, the place has set pretty much in the same state of disrepair for the last 2+ years. I hope it reopens for the 2015 season, but it’s definitely still closed for 2014. Any clue who the new owners might be?

This drive in has been using the name “Port” Drive-In for several years now. It’s future appears to be dim as plans are to close it at the end of July this year as it may become a solar farm… Keeping my fingers crossed it will live on, but as of now, it’s going to close at the end of July 2022…
It is earmarked to reopen in 2024. Joe Furruggio has owned it since 1978 & plans to run himself.
Opened on 4th July 1952 with the Robinson-Maxim fight footage, selected short features(not named?), a technicolour musical (not named?), and “Red Mountain”.
@R & D Drive-In Theatres - What is “frisby?”
Needs to be renamed PORT, and original box office should be reopened.
The marquee was removed sometime between August 2018 and July 2022.
An October 2023 Google Street View shows the ticket booth still intact, but Mother Nature is taking over and the drive behind the ticket booth looks to be overgrown.
If this is going to be reopened, they will need a new marquee.
