The Midtown Cinemas opened in the 1970’s although its opening date remains unknown at this time. During the 1980’s, the theater was operated by Barry Weaver who also operated theaters in Englewood and Huber Heights.

Last operated by Bluegrass Theaters under a bargain policy, the Midtown Cinemas closed for the final time on November 19, 1998 with “Mask of Horror” in Screen 1 and Eddie Murphy in “Dr. Doolittle” and Jamie Lee Curtis in “Halloween: H20: 20 Years Later” split in Screen 2.

The above is almost correct. Cinema 1 was Mask of Horror and in Cinema 2 was split with Halloween H20 & Dr. Dolittle.
