The seating was reduce several times over the years.

At the time, Asahikawa was gaining steam with 19 movie theaters, but was down to 12 by 1980. Some notable films the Asahikawa Theater ran over the years include “Jaws”, “Superman”, “E.T.”, “Batman”, “The Bodyguard”, “The Matrix”, “Star Wars Episode I” and “Mission Impossible II”. Some films were also equipped with 70mm. During its final days, the number of seats had been reduced from 580 to 384.

On February 1st and 2nd, 2003, the film club “Asahikawa Eiga Mura” organized a special screening event to close the 48-year history of the theater. Eight films were screened, ranging from anime to classic movies. Some of these classic films include “Singin' In The Rain”, “Some Like It Hot”, “North By Northwest”, and “Lawrence Of Arabia”. The theater closed for the final time on February 2, 2003 and was demolished to make way for a parking lot.
