The second Butler Theater in town was a new-build Post-War facility opened by G. Ben Dyer and Walter H. Kahler. The opening was originally scheduled for September 26, 1947 but was pushed back a day so as not to conflict with the Butler v. Rich Hill football game. Opening film at the $100,000 theater was Deanna Durbin in “Something in the Wind.” James R. Robin was the projectionist.
Under new operators, the venue became the Nu-Sho Theatre and Butler Nu-Sho Theatre on December 9, 1949. Like many small-town theatres, the Butler Nu-Sho Theatre struggled. Elmer Boe McCann took on the venue in 1954. His wife steered the Butler Nu-Sho Theatre to its final new show taking place on March 30, 1957 with the Bowery Boys in “Hot Shots” and Ruth Roman in “Rebel in Town”.
Melvin O'Dell and Charles Sanchez opted to turn the theatre into a bowling alley, the Butler Bowl that operated from 1957 to the venue’s end of lease on September 26, 1967. The former bowling alley was auctioned off on October 19, 1967. The building appears to have been demolished possibly to remove it from the tax roster.
