Erwin Reves operated the Green Door Theatre late in its run about a half a block away. The Green Door Theatre was the first movie house in the town which was established on the commodity of bear fat in the early-19th Century.

The 150-seat Green Door made the transition from silent to sound film. But the building was in poor condition and Reves built the Palace Theatre. The Green Door Theatre was later demolished. The Palace Theatre was a full-time movie house operating into the 1950’s when television took a toll on its business.

Projectionist Russell Stewart did delayed baseball game recreations at the venue. It also hosted live music events, hosted high school classes when a new school wasn’t finished in time for the start of the school year, and played sporadic exploitation films. The venue eventually closed and then later burned down. A post office is presently on the site of the former theater.
