As reported in the Healdsburg Tribune, T&D Junior Enterprises opened the Plaza Showhouse on May 2, 1930, with William Haines and Marie Dressler in “The Girl Said No”.
According to the Tribune, in 1912 it was the M&M theatre, which became the Liberty Theatre in 1918. A movie theatre shows up at this location on Sanborn Maps 1911.
On December 9, 1940, the Tribune reported owner Larry Killingsworth had sold the Plaza Theatre to George Mann of Mann Theatres.
The Plaza Theatre closed on October 31, 1950, transferring manager Kenneth Davis to the Aven Theatre, which had opened on October 24, 1950 (It has its own page on Cinema Treasures).
The vacant Plaza Theatre was gutted by fire on July 3, 1956, and torn down in March 1970, with a photo of the auditorium demolition appearing in the Tribune.
Film Daily Year Book listed the Plaza Theatre with 829 seats.
