In September 1950, Exhibitor magazine reported that the “Blatt Brothers' Chicora Drive-In” had stopped showing movies on Sunday nights by request but had added late night shows that began at 12:01 Monday mornings. The next month, Boxoffice described the Chicora’s location as near Karns City.
The 1955-56 Theatre Catalog included the Chicora, capacity 350 cars, owned by Blatt Bros. Theatres.
On August 10, 1970, Boxoffice reported that Gary and Barry Ray had sold the Chicora to Mr. and Mrs. Max Summerville sr. In 1973, Fairview Township took Summerville to court to collect an amusement tax, “with the exhibitor showing X-rated films at the Chicora Drive-In.”
A 1962 aerial photo showed a drive-in about one mile south of Karns City on Highway 268, the highway to Chicora. It looked intact in 1986, but its screen was gone by 1993. A church occupies the site today.
