The Y&M Open Air Theatre was located north of the city on Highway 37. It opened on June 7, 1970 with Dick Van Dyke in “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” & James Garner in “Support Your Local Sheriff”. Dick Tricker was the manager. A few weeks earlier, Box Office magazine had reported that “Tricker had started a naming contest for "the drive-in being constructed to replace the old Cascades Drive-In”.
The 1977 Motion Picture Almanac included the Y&M Drive-In in Bloomington with a capacity of 430 cars.
A (late?) 1969 aerial photo showed a drive-in north of the old Cascade Drive-In site on Highway 37. It was still intact in 1986, but by 1998 it had been replaced by a couple of small business buildings, which occupy the site today.
