Architect: Joseph D. True, Jr. Construction: Don Mitchell. The business-pages opening announcement stated the Village would be “the first indoor theatre constructed at Bloomington in many years.” (St. Louis Globe-Democrat, Sat.-Sun., September 13-14, 1969, pp. 2E)

I don’t recall this theater, although I would have used College Avenue often. It and Walnut Street were the border between town and gown when I lived in Bloomington and I assume still are. The businesses catered to either the town or the gown, with most catering to townies. The theater address actually turns up a block off of College. I’m guessing this was programmed for the townies, just as the mall and downtown theaters seemed programmed for the college people.

I was attending IU in 1969. I have to agree with buckguy, I don’t remember this theater.

Oh, yes indeed. I was at IU from 1972 - 1976 and went to quite a few films here. It was directly behind the Arby’s.
