Obscura Ulm

Situated in Ulm, in the south German state of Baden-Württemberg, the Obscura Ulm opened in 1993.

It is housed within the Roxy, which opened in 1989 and hosts a wide variety of events, such as music, cabaret, comedy, literature, theatre, dance and fine arts. Housed in a former factory, it is one of the largest cultural centres in southern Germany.

The Obscura operates as a separate entity, although its smaller screen (Kino 2, with 122 seats) is equipped for small-scale live events, and is shared with the Roxy.

Kino 1, with 218 seats, is a full-time cinema.

Together with the Lichtburg and Mephisto (see separate Cinema Treasures entries) the Obscura completes the “art-house family” operated in the city by Cineplex.
