Located in the city centre. The Cinemateca Portuguesa/Museu do Cinema was opened on 29th September 1958 operating in the Palacio Foz. It moved to its current location on July 14, 1980. On April 23, 1981 the building was destroyed by fire, caused by nitrate film stock combusting.
In January 2003, the new building containing 2-screens (Sala M. Felix Ribeiro-227-seats & Sala Luis de Pina-47-seats) was opened.
