TOHO Cinemas Ichikawa Colton Plaza

The nine-screen Virgin Cinemas Ichikawa Colton Plaza, located at the third floor of Nikke Colton Plaza, opened its doors on November 27, 1999, and became part of the TOHO chain on April 7, 2003. It was renamed TOHO Cinemas Ichikawa Colton Plaza on February 28, 2004.

When it opened in 1999, the Ichikawa Colton Plaza theater itself became the first movie theater in Japan to have all nine screens certified by THX.

  • HISTORY NOTE: Screen 7 inside the seven-screen Warner Mycal Cinemas (now Avon Cinema Ebina) became the first THX-certified theater on a stand-alone basis in April 1993.

Screen 1 is the largest with 365 seats and four wheelchairs, and the smallest is Screen 3 with 118 seats (the other auditoriums have ranging capacities of 129-317). Screens 4 and 8 have three wheelchairs, and the remaining screens have two wheelchairs each. Screen 9 used to be a Premier Screen but was discontinued on May 19, 2009.
