The two screens were initially named Odeon & Forum when they opened in August 1971. Built for and operated by the Birch, Carrol & Coyle chain. Odeon had 864-seats and Forum had 408-seats. It was closed in 1990 as the Townsville Twins and was demolished.

On the site was built the 5-Cinemas which later became the Event Cinemas Townsville City in 2001 and was closed in October 2020 (it has its own page on Cinema Treasures).
