The 33 Drive-In was opened on August 16, 1952 with Maureen O'Hara in “Kangaroo”. The April 17, 1954 issue of Motion Picture Herald noted, “Richard Kelly, manager of the Badger Theatre, Reedsburg, and owner of the No. 33 Drive-In there, has planted some 2,000 pine trees at his drive-in. He is also putting up a new attraction board which he designed himself”.
The 1955-56 Theatre Catalog included the 33 Drive-In, owner Dick Kelly and Theatres Service Co., capacity 320 cars.
A 1954 aerial photo showed a drive-in about a mile and a half east of Reedsburg on Highway 33/23. It was closed at the end of the 1959 season. The drive-in had been replaced by a mobile home park by 1975, and that’s still what’s there today.
