Lorain Theatre

Located in the south-west Cleveland district of Tremont. This Lorain Theatre is not to be confused with the nearby Lorain-Fulton Theatre (which has its own page on Cinema Treasures).

This Lorain Theatre was located next to the Laub Baking Company. It was a popular theatre which played many of the Universal studio’s horror movies from the 1930’s to 1950’s. It was closed in 1969.

On September 10, 1970 it reopened as the Denmark Adult Cinema. It was closed on Setember 23, 1976.

It became a Visible Books bookstore, cafe and the stage was occasionally used for live presentations. The building was ‘For Rent’ in August 2022.

Owner had considered restoring the theatre but, instead, it became Visible Books, a bookstore, cafe and performing space utilizing the original stage. I have uploaded a current photo of the stage from the bookstore and an image of the stage when the renovation was being done taken by one of the workers, Matt Mattia Rocco.
