In Anstruther, a small coastal town in Fifeshire, the Empire Picture House opened in November 1919 in a converted malt barn.
Throughout its life, its entries in the Kinematograph Year Books show only that it was operated by Empire Picture House (Anstruther) Ltd.- with the exception that a BTH (British Thomson-Houston) sound system was noted as having been installed when the talkies arrived.
The Empire Picture House closed in 1959. At some time, the building was acquired by the Scottish Fisheries Museum and used for storage. (Apparently they discovered it retained its original plaster screen!)
A look on Google Street View shows that the building is well maintained, so presumably it is still used for storage.
