The Francis Scott Key Mall opened theatre-less in 1978 by Crown American. In 1980, Manos Quality Theatres Enterprises opened a triplex in the Mall called the Francis Scott Key Mall Cinemas III. It opened on April 4, 1980 with “Little Darlings”, “The Changeling” and “Serial”.

Hoyts Cinemas of Boston took on the venue before closing here at the end of its 20-year lease. It closed March 23, 2000 with “Cider House Rules” and “Drowning Mona”. The space was utilized for other retail purposes.
