The Harford Mall Cinema opened its doors on March 1, 1973 with Steve McQueen in “The Getaway” at Screen 1 and Paul Winfield in “Sounder” at Screen 2.
Later taken over by JF Theatres, and by Loews beginning on October 14, 1988. It was taken over by Sony Theatres in 1994, but retained its Loews Harford Mall name for a while before changing its name to Sony Harford Mall. Two years later in 1996, Loews returned back to Harford after its the chain’s short Sony stunt.
The Harford Mall Cinema closed for the final time on September 24, 1998 with Matt Damon in “Rounders” at Screen 1 and Tom Hanks in “Saving Private Ryan” at Screen 2.
