Located in Darvel, East Ayrshire, the birthplace on 6th August 1881 of Alexander Fleming who discovered Penicillin. The Picture House was opened by 1927. In the late-1920’s it was equipped with a British Thomson-Houston (BTH) sound system. It had a 17ft wide proscenium but when CinemaScope was installed in the mid-1950’s the 23ft wide screen was placed in front of the proscenium. It was still open in 1963, but had closed by 1966.

It has been demolished and a residential house now stands on the site.
