The 20th Century Theatre opened on October 31, 1940 with Alice Faye in Hollywood Cavalcade". It was built for William David Gross, who also owned the Coliseum Theatre in Juneau.
The 2manual/8ranks Kimball organ from the Coliseum Theatre was moved into the 20th Century Theatre, which was fortunate, because a couple years later, the Coliseum Theatre was destroyed in a fire. (The Kimball organ was removed from the 20th Century Theatre in 1976 and now is located in Juneau’s State Office Building).
The 20th Century Theatre was twinned in the early-1980’s by creating a second auditorium out of the balcony. The auditoriums were remodeled in 2004, and featured DTS sound. Both auditoriums featured the original 1940 Simplex projectors.
The theater closed during COVID, and is currently being restored for live performances. It was projected to reopen in May of 2026, but this has been pushed back to July.

The 20th Century Theatre first opened its doors on October 31, 1940 with Alice Faye in “Hollywood Cavalcade” along with Giant Kimball Pipe Organ performances by Guest Artist Larry McCann from Seattle’s KOMO-AM. Otherwise, unknown if extras added.
