Named after Queen Victoria, Empress of India. The Victoria Public Hall was opened in 1890. It became the first building in Chennai to screen films. It was also used for political meetings, stage plays and other events. It was renovated in 1967 and is owned by the city of Chennai Corporation to be leased out for cultural events.
