The Carolina Drive-In was located at the intersections of North Carolina 150 and 152. The opening date hasn’t been found yet, but was opened as early as 1953. It was operated by Dale Groom Jr.
This was the second drive-in to be located in the city of Mooresville, with the other being located a couple of miles south of the city, which is the Mooresville-Davidson Drive-In which operated longer than the Carolina Drive-In.
The Carolina Drive-In closed for the final time on September 24, 1965 with its last films being Buddy Ebsen in “Mail Order Bride” and Kirk Douglas in “The Indian Fighter” as a double feature. It was demolished around a decade later.
