- Dec 3, 2010 — Jubilee Theatre is renovated and open!
The Texas Theatre was opened on April 4, 1941 with Gary Cooper in “Mr Deeds Goes to Town”. It was listed with 500 seats. At that time it was operated by Paramount Pictures Inc. through their subsidiary Hoblitzelle & O'Donnell. In November 1958 it became the Texas Art Theatre, screening adult movies. In March 1963 it was renamed Capri Arts Theatre screening independent and foreign movies, but by 1969 it had gone back to screening adult movies. By 1963 it was known as the Capri Studio Adult Artfilm Theatre. In December 1983 it was re-named Capri Theatre and began showing Spanish language movies. In the Fall of 1988 it became a live theatre.
Later renamed Jubilee Theatre, it was renovated in 1994 for various kinds of live performances, including concerts, dramatic readings, jazz nights, neighborhood talent shws and more.

The Texas Theater launched in 1941. In 1958, with business waining, the Texas successfully tries an influx of art films and adult content. The result is so successful that it comes the Texas Art Theater in November of 1958. In March of 1963, the theater is renamed the Capri Arts Theater trying to become a more legitimate art house. It begins to lean heavily adult and is caught up in a daily raid scenario that takes place late in 1969 and into 1970. When raided in 1974, the theater was known as Capri Studio Adult Artfilm Theatre. The theater simply becomes the Capri Theater lasting as an adult film space until July 1983. In December of 1983, the Capri begins running first-run double feature Spanish language content. In the Fall of 1988, the theater becomes the River Theatre’s space for live plays. And then it becomes the Jubilee Theater.
The Texas theatre opened on April 4th, 1941 with Mr. Deeds Goes to Town. It was renamed the Capri theatre on March 24th, 1963 with the Soviet version of Cinderella. Grand opening ads posted.
