Hoyts launched the Auburn Plaza 10 Cinemas on December 14, 1990 with “Havana”, “Mermaids”, “Look Who’s Talking Too”, “Misery”, “The Rookie”, “Home Alone”, “Three Men & a Little Lady”, “Dances with Wolves”, “Rocky V”, “Rescuers Down Under” and “Ghost”. Flagship Cinemas took on the venue operating it in the 2020’s.

The 10-screen facility replaced an earlier two-screen venue at the Auburn Mall. The Mall had launched theatre-less on August 7, 1979. Cinema Centers Corporation of Boston added a twin-screen facility called the Auburn Mall Cinemas launching November 25, 1981. In 1986, Hoyts Entertainment took on the 111-screen Cinema Centers Corp. acquiring the Auburn Mall facility.

The Auburn Plaza 10 project occurred between the multiplex and megaplex eras. Hoyts decided to close out aging twin and single-screen operations. Hoyts closed the Auburn Mall twin on December 13, 1990 closing with Sylvester Stallone in “Rocky V” and Kathy Bates in “Misery". Additionally, Hoyts closed two Lewiston location on December 13, 1990 with the Northwood Cinema and the Lewiston Cinemas in the Promenade Mall shuttering.

Flagship Cinemas Circuit took on the venue in 2005. The venue closed for the COVID-19 pandemic on March 16, 2020. It reopened with “Tenet” and other first-run films on August 31, 2020.
