The Lyric Theatre, according to Irvin Glazer’s “Philadelphia Theatres A-Z” book opened in 1914, with a plain exterior and a small corner marquee. In 1934 a new marquee was erected. It operated until 1957.
Thanks go to Jay Farrell of Philadelphia for research indicating that in 1967 an application was put in the Philadelphia zoning file, for retail furniture and housewares use. In 1975, following a fire in the building, some or all of the theatre was demolished. Eventually, a partial or entirely new building was built, to be used by the Pennsport School of Dance. In 2021, as the dance school had moved away, the building was demolished. The site will be used to build four houses and parking space.

I have uploaded a photo I found on Pinterest which I believe is the Lyric. The post mentions a 1975 fire and the marque appears to be at the corner of the build. These correspond with the overview.
Not to be confused with the New Lyric in the Germantown section, whose marquee read simply “Lyric” and which was also demolished after a fire in the 1970s.
The 1914-1915 American Motion Picture Directory lists no fewer than five theaters called the Lyric then operating in Philadelphia, including this one at 2nd and Morris Streets. The other four are not yet listed at Cinema Treasures (unless perhaps they are listed under later names and are missing the aka Lyric.)
The other Lyrics were at 2129 S. 6th Street; 728 Girard Avenue; 1710 Crosky Avenue; and 816 S. 10th Street.
