Located in the Surry Hills district of Sydney city centre. Paramount House was built in 1940 as the Sydney headquarters of Paramount Pictures Inc. The building was designed in an Art Deco style and contained a Theatrette in the basement, which was used for trade screenings and screenings for film critics. It remained in this use until the 1970’s.
In 2013 it was refurbished and reopened as the Golden Age Cinema & Bar. The cinema has 56-seats and space for 70-standees. Projection is 2K. The bar has 42-seats and space for 60-standees. Other parts of the building such as the film vaults and office space have been converted in a boutique hotel, named Paramount House Hotel. The Paramount House building is Heritage Listed.
