Lou Ana Theatre

Opened as the Opou Theatre. On February 15, 1948 it was renamed Lou Ana Theatre. One of a number of theatres operating in Opelousas in the 1950’s. Together with the Delta Theatre and the Yam Drive-In, these were the only theatres still operating at the end of 1957. The Lou Ana Theatre was closed in 1960.

It is listed (incorrectly spelled as Lou Ann) in the book, “African American Theaters Buildings: An Historical Directory.”

I’ve uploaded a photo of a page from the Opelousas Daily World from August 31, 1950 which contains ads for all the theatres operating in Opelousas at that time.
