The 1,548-seat Olympia Theatre was opened prior to 1920 as a café-concert-music hall. It was equipped with a Cavaille-Coll organ. By 1932 it was re-named Olympia-Gaumont. It was modernised in 1937, and again in 1947. It was refurbished in 1952 and again in 1966. It was re-named Gaumont Bordeaux in 1973 and was converted into a 4-screen cinema with seating for 720, 397, 190 & 191. In September 1978 it was converted into 7-screens with seating for 720, 400, 190, 190, 400,120 & 110.

By 1989 it had 10 screens which were each named after female film stars: 1- Gaumont-Rama Marilyn Monroe 667-seats, 2- Gaumont-Rama Romy Schneider 390-seats, 3- Ingrid Bergman 346-seats, 4- Simone Signoret 191-seats, 5- Marine Carol 170-seats, 6- Rita Hayworth 169-seats, 7- Judy Garland 143-seats, 8- Louise Brooks 96-seats, 9- Anna Magnani 89-seats & 10- Musidora 89-seats.
