The Amusement Hall was a 19th Century facility that was a multipurpose venue that hosted roller skating, dances, live events and had success with traveling motion picture shows from 1887. From 1909 the New England Motion Picture Company rented the North Wales' Hall transforming it to the town’s first full-time movie house.

The 400-seat movie theatre was in business as a silent movie house until closing in June 1930. However, it appears to have not made the transition to sound films and converted back to live events, operating until 1938. The former cinema part of the building has been demolished, with the remaining part converted into housing.

The closing of the Amusement Hall at North Wales was noted in the Pennsylvania section of the “Theatre Changes” column in The Film Daily of June 2, 1930.
