Here is a wider version of the 1948 BrooklynPix.com photo that was previously posted. It shows a little bit more of the marquee. It was found on the AmeriCar The Beautiful Facebook page. Not sure how it precedes the BrooklynPix.com watermark, since it is a larger image. I can only assume it was the correct size before they claimed it.

I’ll take a guess at what might have been playing: Loretta Young in “The Accused” with Robert Cummings, and “The Countess of Monte Cristo” (Sonja Heine’s last feature).
I had the same guess before I read yours, RickB, and I’m sure you’re right.
