Located in the Union Square Building likely built in the 1920’s, possibly originally the Pastime Theatre. It also housed Baxter Clothing and the then second location of Deitz & Taylor Jewellery.

By 1968-1970 it was showing Adults Only films.

It was demolished to create the new Union Square development and parking for the same. The Rivoli Theatre was a block away behind it on Second Street.

Those buildings look like they’re from the late 1800s, or very early 1900s. Maybe the ‘20s would be when they were stuccoed?

You are probably correct. Looks like the time frame Hickory was growing. The first link is an 82 page pdf I’ll have to search through later.,_North_Carolina

Well I went through all 82 pages of the pdf. Only the Carolina Theatre was mentioned. There was a street renumbering in 1951, but the Carolina is using the new number. I’m gonna leave this news piece here, in case anyone want to research further. The jewelry store that shared the Catawba Theatre building at one time, which is mentioned.
