The Whitehall Drive-In is the only drive-in located near the Glen Falls and Whitehall area, in which opened its gates on June 15, 1950 with Ruth Terry in “Pistol Packing Mama” & Myrna Loy in “The Red Pony”.
The theatre operated for 28 years and a month, and 1978 is one of those years that were hard for the Drive-In, because the original Whitehall Drive-In screen was destroyed in May or June 1978 by lightning during a severe thunderstorm warning. However, the operator Williams James Shea (30) from Killington, Vermont; got an idea by sewing 30 bedsheets all together and making it into a screen. Later on, William was charged by not the Whitehall Police Department, but the New York State Police on July 23, 1978 with a second-degree obscenity. The obscenity demonstrates the owner of the Whitehall Drive-In showed films in which several residents to complain. The New York State Police said that the films could not only be seen at the Whitehall Drive-In, but also at the highway and several windows from homes adjacent to the location. Investigators viewed the film, and later warrant for the arrest was issued, and the Whitehall Police Department also confiscated the film. For the bedsheet plan, police also investigated the film was also shown at the back of the screen and was visible to the people nearby. It was closed at the time the arrest was made.
The appearance on court was failed on March 15, 1979 according to a guy named Mercure. William was plead for guilty to the charge on that day and was disorderly conducted before Whitehall Town Justice Arthur Stevens, who sentenced William to place him a $250 fine and placed him in a 1-year conditional discharge. One of his conditions is that the operator of the Whitehall Drive-In will not show exhibit films of any type the county for the 1-year period.

Opened on 15/6/1950 with “Pistol packing mama” and “Red pony”. The is now Adirondack Natural stone products.
The address cannot be right. That’s a small street at the top of a hill. Adirondack Natural Stone is halfway down to Ft. Ann on US 4. The entry is pretty garbled, and needs editing.
The correct address is 8986 US-4, Whitehall, NY.
A 1986 aerial shows the drive-in as demolished, but the ramps and projection booth/concession stand foundation are still present.
Today, Adirondack Natural Stone occupies the property with no trace of the drive-in remaining.
