The Cornwall Theatre was opened by Famous Players partner Newfoundland Amusements on Lemarchant Road in St. John’s on October 8, 1948.
The single-screen theatre seated 922 and was closed in 1957. The Cornwall Theatre building has since been renovated for retail space, having been the location of industrial supply store Smith Stockley Ltd. since at least the late-1960’s.
