Located on the East side of Franklin Street between Jefferson Street and Lincolnway. This opened as the Valpro Theatre. It was renamed Varsity Theatre on May 9, 1929. On May 10 1933 it was renamed Lake Theatre, reopening with Clive Brook in “24 Hours”. Nicknamed ‘The Bucket’ in the late-1950’s.
In 1963, when it was Republican Headquarters. It continued running special events & movies until it closed in 1967. Demolished possibly circa 1968.

A private parking lot for the neighboring 15 N. Franklin Building is now on this site. Anchor tenant being the Porter County Prosecutors Office.

Actually, As I Did Look A Few More Information About It, The Lake Theatre Didn’t Close Before 1963, It Successfully Continued To Run Special Events And Movies Until Mid-1967 And Then It Was Closed.
