Vista Drive-In

On June 27, 1953, Boxoffice reported, “The new Vista Drive-In Theatre at Junction City, Ore., has a tower-type projection booth erected under direction of owner Bill Thrall, who also operates the Valley indoor in Junction City.”

The 1955 Motion Picture Almanac listed the Vista Drive-In with a capacity of 350 cars, owner W. D. Thrall.

Though intact in a 1954 aerial photo, the Vista Drive-In’s screen was gone by a 1967 photo. By 1994, there was no trace of the drive-in.

A few more details about the Vista’s origins.

Boxoffice, Aug. 2, 1952: “Plans were recently announced by Bill Thrall, owner-operator of the Valley Theatre, to build a 300-car ozoner. It is to be located on the south end of the Bailey property south of here and just west of Highway 99. Thrall indicated that the airer would be in operation this season.”
