One out of the two closed Lakeland 10-screeners in Polk County. Located at the Lakeland Square Mall which opened in 1988, The Lakeland Square 10 Cinemas was opened on December 21, 1990 by Cobb Theatres and has changed ownership many times since.
On January 1, 1993; Cobb traded the theatre to Kent Theatres In. for their Branden 8 Cinema. Kent sold the North Lakeland theatre to StarNet Theaters in January 1999. StarNet Theaters was bought by Dickinson Theatres on June 10th 2004. Dickinson continued operations until July 29, 2010 when they abruptly closed the theatre. Trademark Cinemas announced on the same day that they would take over the theatres lease on September 1, 2010. Trademark plans to gut the theatre and install stadium seating, digital projection and digital sound. The theatre is scheduled to re-open by late-2010 or early-2011, but that didn’t appear to reopen. The Lakeland Square Mall later developed a Cinemark 12-screener 3 years later which opened in January 2014.
