Sidewalk Film Center and Cinema, a non-profit concern, opened August 19, 2019, with two screens, bar, concessions, and a multi function room. Seating is 95 in each auditorium with films consisting of independents, revivals, foreign, and lesser-known first-runs.
Davis Architecture handled the renovations of the cinema in the basement of the Pizitz Buillding, originally designed by Harry B. Wheelock in 1923, and within walking distance of three old Birmingham theaters, the Alabama Theatre, Carver Theatre, and Lyric Theatre.

This specialty/indie theater currently shows movies Thursday through Sunday.
