The screen of the Sunset Drive-In was razed in September 1994 according to a 25 Years Ago column in the September 22, 2019 Franklin County Free Press. The article said the drive-in had a “60-foot silver screen that showed Hollywood images for more than 40 years”.
The Sunset Drive-In was opened on July 14, 1950 with Betty Hutton in “Red Hot and Blue”. Its first appearance in the Motion Picture Almanac series was the 1951-52 edition. MPAs listed the Sunset Drive-In with the address of 4235 Sunset Pike and a capacity of 450. The drive-in persisted through the final MPA drive-in list, always owned by the Kagan family. A better address for the site today is 3361 Landmark Court, part of the housing development that replaced the Sunset Drive-In.

Opening night was July 14, 1950. I’ve added a newspaper clipping to the photos section.
