The US 1 & 2 opened on September 19, 1980,. Located in the Uncle Sam Atrium, the urban renewal mall that tore down most of downtown Troy, including the fabulous Troy Theatre. It did not meet with much success as a first-run venue, so it became a second-run discount house from September 23, 1983 as the Troy Cinema 1 & 2.
It closed around 1985 and sat dormant for a few years. Cinema North Corp from VT added four screens to it by annexing adjacent retail space and reopened it as the Atrium 6 on December 18, 1987. The projection booth for the new four screens had very low ceilings–in fact, there were no traditional pedestals for the projectors–they only sat about 6" off the floor and one had to basically crawl to thread the film!
Again not meeting with much success, the theatre was open for a few years then closed for good. It has been gutted for office/retail space.

Anyone know where in the building this was and exactly what is there now?
It was right in the corner of Fourth and Fulton – if you walk in the Fulton St. entrance to the Atrium it was on the left. The box office ‘bump out’ is still there, as is the display window that held two poster cases. The space is now offices.
Thank you. I’m going to be in Troy next weekend and plan to photograph what remains.
Opened on September 19th, 1980, as US 1 & 2 and renamed Troy Cinema 1 & 2 on September 23rd, 1983. Reopened on December 18th, 1987, as the Atrium Cinemas and closed in January after its last operator, Cinema North was evicted.
