The Commons at Presidio Square shopping center and The Commons apartment complexes launched in 1986 during a spurt of shopping center development. The Plitt Presidio Square Six Cinemas was there at the opening. Architected by David K. Mesbur, Cineplex Odeon had taken on the Plitt chain but opted for the Plitt nameplate at opening.

The six-screen multiplex opened June 27, 1986 with the films, “Labyrinth”, “Room with a View”, and on two screens each, “Ruthless People” and “Running Scared”. The theatre offered advance ticket purchases. Similar Plitt multiplexes in 1986 were to be the chain’s final salvo prior to the Cineplex Odeon buyout.

The theatre tried foreign films beginning in 1987. The theatre made its descent into sub-run discount operation. In 1998, Cineplex merged with Loews creation Loews Cineplex Entertainment. The Loews Cineplex Presidio Square Cinema Six was closed in 2000. The Commons at Presidio Square’s developer Trammell Crow demolished the theatre in October of 2002 making way for an H-E-B grocery store.

I don’t believe I ever went to this theater but it still looks like one I would have enjoyed.

I don’t, but based on the outside of the theatre it looks very similar to the Waco Square Cinemas.
