The Western Drive-In Theatres Circuit began work on the proposed Western Drive-In in Lethbridge in 1949. However, the project stalled and the 300- car spot, $100,000 facility launched as the GreenAcres Drive-In on April 28, 1950 with the film, “The Kid From Texas” starring Audie Murphy.
The Southern Alberta ozoner was also marketed as the Green Acres Drive-In and closed under the name, the Greenacres Drive-In. The Greenacres Drive-In closed with Robert Redford in “Legal Eagles” and Alan Alda in “Sweet Liberty” on October 6, 1986. Its tower signage appears to have been saved.

Provided that you don’t get allergic smelling hay.

The site is now a hotel(Comfort Inns) and a pub and restuarant(Legends). There may still be grass left on the rest of the site(Green Acres, lol!!)!!?
Closed on 6/10/1986.
