Famous Players opened the Paramount Theatre on October 9, 1950 with Bob Hope in “Fancy Pants”. The architect was Victor M. Meech, in conjunction with the firm of Green-Blankenstein-Russell and Associates.
The exterior had a square corner tower feature, bearing the theatre name sign. Inside the auditorium, all seating was on a single floor. The auditorium was quite plain. It was twinned in 1968/1969. It was closed by Empire Theatres in 2007.

This theatre later became the Empire 4th Avenue on September 30, 2005 when Empire Theatres took it over from Famous Players. It closed in 2007.
Also, the address for the Paramount/Empire 4th Avenue was 723 4th Avenue South.
This theatre’s opening attraction in 1950 was “Fancy Pants” starring Bob Hope and Lucille Ball, a Paramount Film. This theatre was a partnership between A. W. Shackleford and Sons and Famous Players Canadian Corporation. When I visited this theatre in 1990, I told Mr. Bob Shackleford his son that the theatre was extremely clean (immaculate) he told me his father wouldn’t have it any other way!!!
A second screen was added in 1968/69.
Grand opening ads uploaded in the photo section.
Currently the home of a financial services business, however the vertical sign still exists.
Opened with Bob Hope in “Fancy Pants” (unknown if extras added). After being part of Famous Players for almost its entire life, Empire Theatres took over the Paramount throughout its last two years of operation until closing in 2007.
