Located in Cachan, a district to the south of Greater Paris in the Val-de-Marne area. In the 1930’s L'arlequin was the first cinema to open in the district. Seating was provided for 812. In 1950 it was re-named Cachan Palace and closed in 1965.
It was acquired by the city of Cachan in 1967 and renovation work began. It was re-opened as the Cinema La Pleiade by the actress Annie Giradot in 1970. The seating capacity had been reduced to 550 (today 474) and it was considered the most beautiful and modern cinema in the Paris suburbs. In 1981 the original screen was restored and a second screen seating 130 was added. In 1989 a third screen was added which has 176 seats (today 170). In 2007 the exterior of the building was modernised. All three screens have digital projection, and screen 2 has also retained its 35mm projector.
