Located in Reading, Berkshire. The Studios 1 & 2 were upstairs on the first floor of a building adjacent to and part of the former Olympia Ballroom which became the Olympia Bingo Club. The two-screens each had 100 seats and were opened by the Leeds based Star Cinemas chain on 19th July 1972.
In 1975 Studio 1 became Studio X, a members only cinema playing uncensored adult films. Studio 2 continued playing regular films. Both Studio’s closed on 18th February 1978.
The spaces became part of the Shenai Olympia Ballroom, which was used for wedding receptions and special events. It was closed in 2019. In 2022 plans were proposed to demolish the former ballroom/cinemas part of the building and construct flats on the site.

The wedding venue closed in 2019. Unused since then, proposals to demolish the more modern dance hall/bingo club at the rear of the Georgian terrace to be replaced with flats were made in July 2022. The flats conversion would include the older (Listed) Georgian terrace space at ground level as well.
