The Odeon opened as a cinema in 1923. In 1933 it was remodeled to the plans of Marseille based architect Eugene Chirie. Seating was provided for 1,600. Many famous stars appeared here, including Maurice Chevalier, Edith Piaf, Josephine Baker, Charles Trenet, Mistinguett & Yves Montand.
Following the closure of the ABC Cinerama in 1966, the Odeon opened in 1966 as an 800-seat 70mm Cinerama cinema. By 1977 it had been converted into a 5-screen cinema. It later gained a 6th screen. It was closed in 1987.
Since 1996 it has operated as the Odeon Municipal Theatre presenting performing arts programmes.
