The Odeon opened as a cinema in 1923. Seating was provided for 1,600. Many famous stars appeared here, including Maurice Chevalier, Edith Piaf, Josephine Baker, Charles Trenet, Mistinguett & Yves Montand.
Following the closure of the ABC Cinerama in 1966, the Odeon opened in 1966 as an 800-seat 70mm Cinerama cinema. By 1977 it had been converted into a 5-screen cinema. It later gained a 6th screen. It was closed in 1987.
Since 1996 it has operated as the Odeon Municipal Theatre presenting performing arts programmes.
