Glenvue 1 & 2 - East Glenville, NY

Owned by Glenvue Enterprises, the Glenvue Cinema 1 & 2 was built on a 4-acre plot in East Glenville, (north of Schenectady) NY, at a cost of $500,000 in early-1973, opening on June 22, 1973 with Patricia Neal in “Baxter” & Micheal Caine in “Sleuth”. It is a free standing building in what was then a strip center with K-Mart as the anchor. The manager was Russell Vitallo. Exterior of building was brick and glass. A 6x35 foot marquee spans the front entrance way. The lobby color scheme is red with other contrasting colors. Two concession stands, back to back, divide the lobby in half separating the two 440-seat cinemas, which had differing green and blue color schemes. Equipment furnished by Wagner, Kollmorgen, Westrex, Christie, Goldberg Bros., Hurley and Heywood-Wakefield. The architect on the project was Harris Sanders of Albany, NY. The theater didn’t last too long and was converted to the Glenville Post Office, which it remains today.
